As the following article highlights, online media, primarily social media, provides recruiters with an exceptional ability to target audiences very specifically, and to segment audiences based on many different criteria. Combine that with metrics available to track results, and recruiters can very quickly learn what is working and where is the best place to direct resources. Utilizing social media also allows the recruiter to go to where the candidates—active and passive—are. As the Web and social media become more and more part of the fabric of people’s everyday lives, such sophisticated outreach strategy will be expected by client companies and candidates.
